The life of a butterfly
Today I got to present the life cycle of a butterfly! First it starts with a caterpillar (or larva) which spends its time munching on leaves. After lots of munching, the caterpillar sheds its skin to make room for a bigger body. Then the caterpillar curls up fast asleep (usually under a leaf or other protection)and a hard shell or chrysalis forms around it. When it is done with the whole process (called metamorphosis) a butterfly emerges! The butterflies lay eggs under leaves and when it is ready, out pops a caterpillar!
Poetry Month
April was National Poetry Month. As kindergarteners, we read poems (most of them funny) and wrote our own "I AM" poems. Some of the poems were selected to hang in the library for the month of April. We had...I am a cat, I am a Tiger, I am a flower, I am a book, I am an orange, and I am a Broncos Football. Congratulations to our poetry winners!

Science Experiments
In AM kindergarten, we got to go upstairs to the middle school floor and watch some experiments by Mr. Birch's 8th graders. It was a lot of fun and we even learned a lot. The 8th graders really took care of the kindergarteners which was great to see and did an awesoem job explaining hard concepts to us like: inertia, centripetal force, expansion, pressure, speed, buoyancy, etc.

The morning message
Every morning (and afternoon), there is a message on the board for the kids to read. In this last quarter, the message has mistakes in it that the kids have to fix: no periods, not starting with a capital, words spelled wrong, etc. Take a peek at the message for today and what the morning kids thought was wrong with it!
