Draw a President

Last week each kindergartener drew a picture of a president that we will or have learned about in kindergarten (Thedore Roosevelt, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and George W. Bush) to be entered in a contest through Scholastic. All pictures were sent away, but we did have some class winners. We had one winner for each president from both classes. Everyone did a great job and really put a lot of hard work and detail into their picture! (**Helpful hint: You can click on a picture to make it bigger so you can see it a little better!)

PAWS

For the past few weeks our school has been implementing the PAWS program. We are trying to cultivate good behavior across the school; specifically in the hallyways, bathroom, playground, and the cafeteria. Each week we get to watch a short skit done by teachers to show kids what good behavior is and is not. This week I was on the team to do the skit to teach about how to behave on the playground. Mr. Bean filmed and edited ours to make it into a video (the play was written by Mr. Howard). Enjoy!

Deuce says thank you

Our class hampster, Deuce McAllister, has benefited greatly from our field trip to Miller Farms. He is loving all of the carrots that our students have been bringing him!

The SAINTS/Broncos saga continues...

When the SAINTS played the Broncos in September, we did a lot of activities around the game. We graphed who we thought would win and we had the teachers come in to pick who they thought would win. We also learned all of the SAINTS cheers and made patterns with the colors of both teams. Well, we all know now that it was not a W for the SAINTS, but the class is still quite fond of the team. Now, even though we can cheer for both teams, the rivalry continues in our classroom! I apologize to all of the Broncos fans in our class (you know who you are) but all I have right now are SAINTS pictures and videos to show you! Who dat say they gonna beat them SAINTS?!?!

Field Trip to Miller Farms

Today we went to Miller Farms on our first kindergarten field trip! To get there, we got to ride in cars with our friends which means that we got to stay longer than if we would have taken a bus. When we got there, we took a hay ride through fields to pick potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, onions, beans, peppers, pumpkins, and corn. After we were finished picking, we got to eat lunch and then play on all of the fun things. Some of us even went through the corn maze! Now that we all have lots of veggies at home, let me know what you are going to do with them!

Michelangelo

Today we learned about a new artist: Michelangelo. We learned that he painted the Sistine Chapel in Italy and it took him a little over 4 years. While he did not have to paint the whole thing on his back, he did have to bend over backwards for long hours to paint the high ceiling. We also learned that he nearly went blind because of paint falling into his eyes! Check out the videos to see how we were Michelangelo today!

Masterpieces

This week we learned about famous artists and we even became artists ourselves. We painted pictures like Matisse, Miro, Mary Cassatt, and we even drew a picture of a president to be entered in a contest! Can you name the artists of all of these masterpieces?
