Fall colors

This weekend, I got to go to Aspen, Colorado to see the fall colors. The season we are in right now is called fall and it is when the leaves on the trees change colors and then fall off. It is also a time for the weather to get cooler. Fall comes after summer which is usually pretty hot. While I was in Aspen, I learned something neat. Do you know what the largest organism in the world is? I was thinking a whale since it is a very large sea animal, but that is not right. It is a grove (that means bunch) of Aspen trees. Normal trees have roots that go into the ground to help suck up water and nutrients from the soil, but they do not touch the roots of other trees. Aspen trees have roots that connect to one another which scientists say make it one organism (or living thing). Pretty cool, huh! Here is a picture of an Aspen tree!
