People here love the SAINTS...







Everywhere I look here in France, I see the SAINTS sign! Here they call it the fleur de lis (flower of the lily) and it is a symbol of royalty (back when France had a king and queen). It was all over Versailles, it is on fence posts, and it is even on the French royal flag! It is like their are SAINTS fans everywhere! The reason that the fleur de lis became the sign of the SAINTS is because a long time ago France actually owned New Orleans (and all of Louisiana). Louisiana did not become part of our country until Thomas Jefferson purchased it (and other land) from France. We call it the Louisiana Purchase. Because France once owned it there are a lot of French things in Louisiana!
